When we arrive in Chinatown we will take a tour of this historic area of Bangkok’s, browsing the local shops, temples, and markets. The starting point in Chinatown will be Song Wad Street, we will walk browsing the locals stalls of street vendors who sell the vastest range of goods and services. Next up on this tour of Chinatown, Bangkok is Sampeng Market a massive wholesale market. The Bangkok Chinatown tour continues to Yao Wa Rat Street, which is the jewellery trade centre of Bangkok, with rows upon rows of vendors dealing in gold, jewellery and accessories. Then we will take a walk through some of the smaller alleys where Chinese herbs stalls are trading, here we can sample some authentic Chinese herbal drinks.

The Chinatown Tours heads over to Charoen Krung Street to visit Wat Mangkon Kamalawat, which is Bangkok’s most important Chinese Buddhist temple. There are many beliefs and acts of faith that combine for the Thai-Chinese people. Then we walk down Bangkok’s oldest street to meet the locals, you will discover how the Chinese community of the area live, the people of Charoen Chai Community have handcrafted traditional Chinese joss paper products in the area for over a century. Products created from joss paper include the familiar shiny gold and red envelopes used for gift-giving during Chinese lunar new year, food trays that mark the annual vegetarian festival, yellow flags and the elaborate paper offerings that grace traditional Chinese funerals. 

We will then board a Tuk Tuk, a traditional Thai vehicle to return to CHAO Hostel.
